Literally a golden state, California to be exact, the only golden state. The first thing you think of is probably the Golden State Warriors but before the best NBA team made it's mark on the world, this California nickname dates back centuries. Author, Eliza Farnham, published a book in 1856 naming California as the "Golden State". This was one of the earlier publications with California's nickname.

Besides the Gold Rush, The Golden Gate and the Golden State Warriors, the state itself offers opportunities and attractions to those who live here and visit which they may see as a golden ticket.
